Professional credibility

Professional credibility

MUTA members are committed to good practice and raising professional standards within their sectors – this is reflected in our codes of practice which all members comply with. If you are admitted into the Association you will have the right to display the MUTA logo and the logo of relevant accreditation schemes that apply to your business. This will boost your profile compared to your competitors and give you access to customers that require their suppliers to be MUTA members.

For example, marquee hire members are subject to the MUTAmarq accreditation scheme and inspection programme to ensure that they meet our high standards out in the field. More and more local authorities and event organisers are requiring marquee contractors on-site to be MUTAmarq-accredited.

You will also be able to use MUTA literature to promote your business.

Marketing

Marketing

As a member, you get an automatic listing on our website – visitors looking for products that you supply will find your contact details. You will also get an entry in our annual Yearbook and Buyers Guide which is sent to thousands of buyers of textile products and is also available on the website. The Association also refers requests for specific products from customers to the membership so it is also a great way of getting sales leads, particularly if you specialise in a hard-to-find product. You can also enhance your profile by taking adverts on the MUTA website. If you have a new product or a big announcement to make, the Association can help you get coverage in your local press or national trade magazines.

Networking

Networking

MUTA gives members the opportunity to meet each other and potential customers at events such as seminars, workshops and dinners.

Representing your views

Representing your views

MUTA is at the forefront of developing professional standards for the industry. As a member you have the opportunity to influence standards set by the association and have your views passed on to the people in government and other organisations who matter on issues of regulation. MUTA is in regular contact with the Health and Safety Executive, LACORS, BSI, Institution of Structural Engineers, Sector Skills Councils, Government Departments and other trade associations.

While we already have best practice guidelines for the marquee and inflatable play industries, we are bringing together companies in other sectors to develop standards for their products.

Health and safety support

Health and safety support

MUTA employs a full-time health and safety compliance officer who, in addition to inspecting marquee hirers as part of the MUTAmarq scheme and auditing PIPA inspectors, is always available to provide health and safety advice.

Training

Training

MUTA offers nationally recognised training to Level 3 for senior marquee erectors and foremen, for which it has negotiated government Train To Gain Funding, and also offers a one-day health and safety course, StructureSafe, for marquee site crew. The skills, training and experience of temporary structures professionals is recorded in the MUTAmarq Skills Card scheme, which is free to members.

And many more!
